Teaching Chinese as a Second Language
The major of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language in Chongqing University of Technology was set up in 2012. At present, it has a university-level research platform (the Research Center of Chongqing Intercultural Communication), and a university-level laboratory (the Experience Room of Chinese Culture). It has five core courses and two general courses at the school level. There are 11 full-time teachers in this major, including 1 professor, 4 associate professors and 6 doctors. The proportion of professors and associate professors is 45.45%, and the proportion of teachers with doctoral degrees is 54.55%. In the past five years, teachers of this major have published more than 10 papers in core journals, undertaken one project of the National Social Science Foundation, one project of the Ministry of Education in Humanities and Social Sciences, 10 projects of the Chongqing Federation of Social Sciences and the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, 3 projects of school-level educational reform, published 5 academic monographs, and won the first, second and third prizes of the school-level teachers' micro-class competition. Twelve micro-courses of Chinese culture for foreign students have been completed. The purpose of this major is to cultivate high-level applied talents, which has formed the training characteristics of "consolidating bilingual foundation and outstanding practical ability". In addition, the major also actively provides a practice platform for students, undertaking the "Chinese Bridge" online group project of the Ministry of Education for three years. In the past three years, the first employment rate has exceeded 90% on average every year, and the average rate of postgraduate entrance examination has reached 30%.
